Reach That Goal

Welcome back family and friends! If this is your first time reading my blog then welcome to Devotionals With Ken! I pray and hope everything is going well with everyone this week and if it's not, I will be praying that it will get better. This week and next week is kind of a different because I'll be posting two blogs or maybe three for an assignment, but please come back at any time. Also, they might be a little short, but I hope you still get the revelation and understanding you need to keep pushing forward with the word of God.

Reaching a goal is an amazing thing and it makes you feel good about yourself, especially when people thought you wouldn't reach it, but you did. Celebrating your achievements is a good thing as well. Today I want to talking about reaching your goal.

This past weekend I was in Chicago for ministry with my God sisters, my God mom, and Ms. Deanna. I met some amazing people, which are my Chicago family as of now. And to be honest it actually felt like I've known them my whole life. That's how amazing and eye opening this ministry trip was. If my Chicago family is reading this, heyyy y'all! Miss y'all so much.

The day before I left to go back home, my sisters and I decided to workout in the hotel workout area. It was actually Mariyah's decision and I'm grateful that she said something about it. So basically me, Xy, and Riyah went to the workout room and started to workout. I went on the treadmill and decided to just walk on it. I wasn't really thinking about working out to where I was going to be sweating but I guess my body had other plans. I started to push the speed up button and all of a sudden I said to myself, "How about I start running until I lose 30 calories." And so I did, and then I told myself that I wasn't going to stop until I got to 50 calories, because that wasn't nothing. I ran those 50 calories and I was still feeling encouraged to do more. Now, I didn't think I was going to keep going after those 30 calories; I thought I was going to just stop after I finished because my body was so tired from the day before.

After I was finished with the 50 calories, I was sweating, my legs were hurting, and I just wanted to stop, but no that did not happened. I once again told myself that I was going to lose 50 more calories! And chile, when I tell y'all I was tired at this point, I was tired (maybe I was a slight dramatic, because I am a little dramatic, but I don't know.) You can determine that by watch it here: https://www.facebook.com/kennedey.jordanlong.50/videos/359093722915540/?d=n

When I got to 100 calories, I again told myself and Riyah that I was going to lose 20 more calories, which she'd agreed on. And so, finally when I got to 122.6 calories, I stopped. When I stopped I felt like I was still going, but that didn't encourage me to keep going. My celebration was stopping, getting water, and getting in the bed. Hallelujah to that!

The meaning of that story was to encourage you to keep going: to reach your goal. I know the calories story probably doesn't mean anything to you all, but to a person who doesn't workout and for the first time was serious about running on the treadmill it did encourage me. It was progress for me! When I tell y'all I was so tired while I was running, I really wanted to give up at 70 calories, but my goal was to get to 100, which I accomplished and went a little further.

So as a result, I don't know what your goals are, but I want to encourage you to keep going and REACH THAT GOAL!!! Yes, you may want to stop and give up because it hurts or it's tiring but that's how you know you're getting somewhere; you're making progress! In the Bible in 2 Chronicles 15:7 NLT says, "But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded.” So as for YOU keep going and reaching your goal, you will be rewarded.

Thank you again for coming back for week four! It's been amazing! I will be backing this week for more content. So, I'll just say week four and a half. Don't forget if you need prayer or just want to talk, please feel free to contact me. Alright, you all have a wonderful and blessed day. Remember the only way you can get through this journey called life is only by the word.
